Flores de Casa (Flowers of the Blue House ) was first inspired by Jodie’s visit to Frida Kahlo’s home in Mexico City. An abundance of calle lillies and rows of blue and white traditional talevera pottery were stunningly displayed throughout the famous artist’s home.
Chilli red and fuchsia pink are two of Jodie’s favourite colours to paint with. In her Noosa studio Jodie brought this painting to life with layers of bold acrylic paint and strong colour blocking in the background.
Frida would often buy Diego flowers at the local flower market near their home in San Angel. This painting celebrates love, colour and Mexican blooms and was a finalist entry in the Aspire Gallery Petite Pieces Exhibition in 2023.
